Grameen Shikkha Sponsor Muhammad Jahangir Passes Away

We are deeply saddened to inform that Muhammad Jahangir, an eminent journalist, writer and media personality of Bangladesh and a long time sponsor of Grameen Shikkha Scholarship Program, died on 10 July 2019 at the age of 68 (May God rest his soul in eternal peace). He was suffering from Cancer.
 
Muhammad Jahangir, by an endowment fund entrusted with Shikkha in 2004, opened two perpetual scholarships after his parents’ names – one named “Alhaj Dula Mia Scholarship” and the other “Sufia Khatun Scholarship” – at Kuaish Burischar Sammilani High School in Hathazari, Chattogram, Bangladesh for poor students of this school. Nine students have so far received and another two students – a boy and a girl both in their 8th grade – are currently receiving these scholarships.
 
Muhammad Jahangir, who left behind his wife and three children, was a sibling of Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Laureate and Chairman of Grameen Shikkha.
